With a Master’s degree in Rhetoric and Composition and over fifteen years of experience in the international arts sector, Christina Van Ryzin has dedicated her career to the intersection of language, subculture, and visual storytelling. Her journey began in the world of print, developing her voice as a writer for both local and national publications, where she became fascinated by the power of language to shape and sustain cultural movements.
In 2012, that fascination evolved into {E-volved} Magazine, a globally distributed publication exploring the sophisticated world of tattoos and fine art. Available both digitally and in print, {E-volved} grew into a premier international platform for artists of all mediums, found in hundreds of retail locations worldwide including over 300 Barnes & Noble stores. While the shifting landscape of the pandemic eventually forced the magazine to sunset due to rising production costs, the mission behind it—elevating underground art—remained the heartbeat of Christina's work.
A fierce advocate for her local arts community, Christina has been a driving force in the revitalization of Ventura’s creative landscape. Since 2009, she has curated over 100 unique, avant-garde art exhibitions, bringing high-energy, immersive experiences to her hometown. Her portfolio includes the founding of the VC Art Market, Ventura’s first monthly outdoor art gallery (2016–2024), and the production of several hallmark annual events: the Seaside Tattoo Show, the Seaside Oddities Expo, the Bloodsuckers Ball, and Merry Gothmas.
In November 2025, Christina returned to her roots with the opening of Evolved Art Gallery. Located adjacent to the historic Majestic Ventura Theater, the gallery is a space dedicated to the bold, the bizarre, and the beautifully unconventional. By championing urban, emerging, and experimental visionaries, Christina aims to make quality fine art accessible for collectors while providing a platform for voices that live outside the lines. At Evolved, she continues to champion the ever-shifting cycle of risk and reinvention: Create. Evolve. Repeat.
